About Primary Academy

Primary Academy and Secondary Academy are clubs founded by a deputy head, qualified head teacher and teacher of over 14 years.

Over the last 14 years, Victoria has seen first hand the positive and rapid difference small group tuition can make to children across all ages, especially in KS2 and KS3.

Providing such tuition to pupils working below, above and those achieving age related expectations has enabled her pupils to flourish and make impressive accelerated progress. This has given her pupils enormous confidence and helped them prepare for the next stage of learning, often finding themselves ahead of their peers.

When at school- in either state or private- providing that uninterrupted small group tuition is demanding and often impossible as there are always other children in need of attention to support.

Having a whole hour in a small focussed environment of uninterrupted tuition therefore has profound influence.

Consistently graded outstanding by Ofsted inspectors, specialists from the county council as well as a variety of colleagues in her schools throughout her career, Victoria has a natural ability to explain concepts and develop a pupil’s understanding, helping them to unlock their potential and achieve success, in particular when it comes to completing assessments, be it KS2 SATS, KS3 assessments, GCSEs or preparing for the independent 11+ or 13+ exams. This approach to teaching is at the core of the methods used in the Primary Academy and Secondary Academy clubs.

    Professionalism, expert preparation and warm approach has enriched our boy's learning; they have grown in confidence and significantly lifted their grades since we invested in expert tutoring.  

  • Tutoring was key in both boys passing their KS2 SATS with confidence and we see the tutorage as an on-going 'top up' to their regular schooling which consolidates, enriches and lifts their learning across the curriculum.

    Tutoring input to our eldest son’s approach to 13+ exams in English and Maths played a big part in his success with recent school entrance exams.

  • The tutor's key strength’s is the ability to explain topics and approaches clearly to children.  This has been particularly useful in helping our youngest son ‘pre-learn’ specific maths topics before being taught them in the classroom at school. This approach has increased his confidence in maths markedly.  Indeed, it’s just resulted in him being ‘moved up’ into a more independent learning group.

  • Both boys always look forward to their sessions, even after a long day at school. That being said, the tutor knows just how to motivate them when they’re tired, even if it means doing a few star-jumps.

  • The boys’ keenness to work is, I am sure, a result of a brilliant teaching style and a fundamental understanding of what makes children tick.

  • In summary, they are the most brilliant tutor for children in the 8-14 age range and, I’m sure, ages either side of that.  We have every confidence in their ability and feel that they have proven to be a great investment in our children’s academic success.
